-I'm really frustrated right now. I have had my Toshiba laptop for almost two years. It's running Windows 7 Home Premium. It's not great, but it runs normally at a decent speed. Recently I've been doing a lot of downloads for COD4 modding, and could have gotten a virus (although I have McAfee which is real good). Ever since this morning my computer has been running very slowly. I also noticed McAfee had an error when scanning. I downloaded MalwareBytes and removed some threats, a few adware and spam stuff. After that the computer seemed to run a little faster, but still whenever I do simple things, even right clicking on a file it becomes non responsive. Sometimes I can't even end the process and task manager freezes. At that point I can't even log off, I have to remove my battery. There have been no pop-ups or anything else resembling a virus, and my CPU has been only at about 15%, memory at 20% (6gb). I am running a MalwareBytes full scan right now, so far no infections. Normally I can fix stuff like this but not now. Safe Mode works but is still slow. I want to use system restore, but that doesn't and has never worked on my PC. Any Ideas? Would my best option be to backup my files and favorite programs and do a complete restore? Because this is REALLY slow, like unusable for anything besides web browsing. My computer was working slow and freezing a lot. I did various techniques from uninstalling the programs to modifying system settings. Finally, after I asked one of my friends, he made me aware about the number of services that were running in the background while I was using my computer. So I stopped down the services which I was no longer using. I created a completely new services profile with Reginout services optimizer. Then restarted my computer. It worked fine. Have a try and best of luck!
It is not easy getting all of the "Bad" out of the computer. Best bet is to back up your stuff to a external hard drive and then reload your OS from your restore discs. Watch what you download!!
best to do that way, backup ur files and favorite programs and do a complete restore, coz this could solve the problem totally
good luck
get avira free and run it takes almost an hour to scan.
I had this trouble before and there is ideally two options.
1.) You can back-up YOUR MOST IMPORTANT files and back them up on a hard drive. Then you can do a system recovery and start new and organized. Its a bit drastic but can be done.
2.) You can use CCcleaner to clean ALL the unnecessary files and derangement your hard drive. This way is a lot easier and is a good start. You can also clean out your folders and organize them. I find that the download folder is usually a good start to delete things. Good Luck.
