I'm using VPN Authority. Is it safe?

-I buy a lot of things from this laptop online...

I don't want anyone to see any credit card details.

At the same time, I'm using 'VPN Authority' ( http://www.vpnauthority.com/faq.php ) to watch BBC iPlayer...

Will I be okay?

Or should I just not initialize it when I turn on my laptop and be safer than sorry.Haven't used them but have used these guys for years to watch iPlayer, Hulu and I do all my shopping over the VPN. Never had a problem. http://www.surfbouncer.com

As one other poster mentioned, if you got malware the VPN isn't going to save you. You need to stay on top of this with multiple protection softwares. Also, using stuff like No Script really helps when going to a new site so they don't download something you may regret later.
If you use Windows for these mixed tasks, then nothing is safe.

"Banking Trojans" are becoming more prolific, and sophisticated.

I could give hundreds of article ref's, but that's the long and short of it.

Look over 2 days worth of Y! Answers/Comp. Security and you'll see common Windows infections.

Using VPN (any breed) ensures TRANSMISSION integrity. It does nothing at all if the system is already compromised with a keylogger: it records before encryption/transmission...and so your data is toast.

Use Linux for these delicate, extreme value tasks.
i think it is safe to watch bbc iplayer.

but not porn ;)
