-I have just received what seems to be a valid message from Yahoo to say that my password is being compromised, and ways of changing it. I don't seem to have any problems at the moment. Is this a scam of some sort. How can I check?Right click on the email message and select on the drop down menu for the "View Full Header" In there you will see a bunch of text and coding, but it will show you who actually sent the email, their server, the time zone they are in and the if it was sent from an actual web based email like yahoo, gmail and hotmail or if its from an ISP email that you would use only from home like from outlook express, eudora or mozilla thunderbird. if it was sent from yahoo, it would be web based and show "Http: ". That's the best way to verify the origins of that email. And you can do it on your own without the help of any tech support and not to mention this applies to any email provider you use. It's a scam to get details of your user name and password.
Yahoo like everyone else DO NOT send emails asking for password details etc.
Just ignore it and delete it.
Any problems with user names and passwords YOU email Yahoo.
If you got the message in an email, it's a phishing scam. I've got them from Yahoo, and also Hotmail. I just delete the msgs. My password has never been compromised.
Dont click on any links in the email and change it via a new page. That way if your password has been compromised you've changed it without going through their scam email.
Yes it's a scam. The baddies want you to give them your log in and password.
just change your yahoo password. If it's legit you fixed the issue. If it's not then no harm done either way
